Dellia Pruitt Obituary
Dellia Sue (Bugg) Pruitt, 81, of Floyd, NM went to be with the Lord April 17, 2025. Dellia was born in Tucumcari, NM, July 15, 1943 to Leslie Lee “L.L.” and Dellia H. Bugg. She was the youngest of eight children, four brothers, Delbert, R.T., James “Jimmy” and Earnest. Three sisters, Lanell Foreman, Barbara Cast and Agnes Leatherwood.
Although the hospital was just across the street from the family home, Dellia was born in a nursing home that belonged to Miss Fish, a close friend of her mother. The family lived in Wicks, AR near Mena for about four years. After moving back to Tucumcari, Dellia attended school there through Jr. High.
In 1958, at the age of fourteen, she married Jerald Jennings in Tucumcari. Together they had a son, Shane Jennings, before moving to Martinez, CA near Sacramento. While in California, Dellia and Jerald had two more children, Guy Dwayne, who died in a gun accident at four years of age, and Debbie Diane, who was stillborn. With the strain of loss, Dellia and Jerald divorced.
Dellia remained in California, moving around the northern portion and working at various jobs. Eventually, Dellia met and married Tom Winnett. Tom was a crane operator. After Tom retired, they moved back to Tucumcari, where they made their home until Tom’s passing. They were married for thirty-four years.
Some time after Tom’s passing, Dellia married a longtime friend, Donald “Don” Pruitt on Oct. 15, 2011. They made their home in Floyd, NM. They enjoyed playing music, traveling and camping together. They were married for twelve years until Don passed away on Jan. 8, 2024.
Dellia was a member of Christ Community Church in Floyd. She was active in the Order of Eastern Star and Rebecca’s. She volunteered for the Tucumcari Senior Citizens, teaching pottery classes and driving the bus. In addition, she volunteered to help with the Quay County Fair, decorating, helping to set up and clean up and making burritos for the youth. She worked twenty years as a Quay County election official. She was also a member of the Tucumcari Extension Club. She played electric bass, and served as President of the Old Time Bluegrass Association for years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six of her siblings, and two children, Guy and Debbie.
She is survived by one sister, Barbara Cast of Tucumcari, NM, her sons, Shane Jennings of Tucumcari, and Tommy Winnett of Denver, CO and James and Kelly Love of Floyd; one daughter, Yantie Love of Portales; five grandkids, Cody and Shana Winnett of South Dakota, Jared Jennings of Tucumcari, Jordan Jennings of Tucumcari and Lindsay and Cory Martin of Columbus, OH. Seven great-grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews.
