David Quick Obituary

No formal services are planned for David Quick.

David Duane Quick was born Feb. 16, 1964 in Albuquerque, to the home of Allen Estella (Garcia) and Otis Leo Quick, and died at his home in Portales early on the morning of Sept. 26, 2024.  Mr Quick grew up in San Jon where he graduated from high school in 1982.  While he was in school, he played basketball and tennis, and was active in FFA.  Following high school, he attended Eastern New Mexico University for a short time before entering into the US Marine Corps where he served from 1983 until 1989.  While in the service, David worked in Light Armor Reconnaissance.

Following his time in the service, David worked as a surveyor for the Bureau of Land Management for a few years.  In the mid 1990’s he began his main career in trucking.  David was both a truck driver, as well as a truck mechanic.  For enjoyment, he liked to go hunting and fishing.  On Dec. 24, 1994 at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Portales, he was married to Amy Grubbs.

He is survived by Amy, his wife of almost 30 years of their home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Chance and Stormy Aguirri of Portales and Barney Ferrell of White Settlement, TX; a daughter, Kimberly Aguirri of Portales; 17 grandchildren with another expected soon and four great-grandchildren with another expected soon; three brothers, Lee Quick of Portales, John Quick of Los Lunas, NM and Otis Quick, Jr. of Curlew, WA; and two sisters, Catherine Quick II of Rio Rancho, NM and Connie Williams of Aztec, NM.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Perry Hickerson and Gene and a sister, Catherine Quick I.
