Memorial services for David Aguilar, 54, of Portales will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Fri., Aug. 14, 2020 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Pete Jaramillo officiating. All of his family and many friends will be honorary pallbearers.
David Dean Aguilar, known to family and friends as “Dino,” was born July 27, 1966 in Clovis, NM to the home of Lydia Maria (Salaz) and David Roy Aguilar, and died at his home on Aug. 10, 2010 in Portales. David graduated from Portales High School in 1984, where he played point guard on the Basketball team under Coach Fowler. In 1990, Dino moved to CA where he worked selling burial plans for Rose Hill Cemetery. He returned to Portales in 2001. David was disabled and was unable to work from that time on. He enjoyed gathering with his friends to listen to music. He was always up for a party or celebration of any kind. David was a very devout Christian, and attended Victory Life Church in Portales.
He was a strong supporter of high school sports, and liked attending sporting events. He played intermural sports at ENMU. He was an avid Steeler’s fan, and could tell you all the statistics and details of all the players and teams in football, and especially the basketball teams.
He is survived by his mother, Lydia Aguilar of Portales and his brother, Bill Augilar of San Jose, CA. He was preceded in death by his father and a baby sister, Carmela Aguilar.
