Funeral services for Danny Pena, 59, of Portales will be held at 2:00 PM, Thurs., Dec. 9, 2021 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jeff Fox officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Robert Pena, Dennis Pena, David Pena, Robert Pena, Aaron Pena and Jesse Robinson serving as pallbearers.
Daniel Raymond Pena, known to virtually everyone as Danny, was born Dec. 10, 1961 in Portales to the home of Frances (Barela) and Samuel Segundo Pena and died early Sunday morning, Dec. 5, 2021 in Portales. Mr. Pena lived his entire life in Portales, and attended the Portales schools. He worked for various construction companies during his lifetime. Approximately three years ago, he developed health problems that prevented him from being able to work any longer. Danny liked to be outdoors, and enjoyed working either in construction or doing yard work. He was a loving and devoted son and brother, and always liked to have the opportunity to spend time with his family.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Joann Martinez of Portales; two sons, Daniel Raymond Pena, Jr. and Jesse Robinson both of Portales; a granddaughter, Daphne Robinson; his mother, Frances Pena of Portales; six brothers, Robert Pena, Herman Pena, Dennis Pena, David Pena, Albert Pena and wife, Melinda and Michael Pena all of Portales; and a sister, Jo Ann Zapata and husband, Israel of Morton, TX. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Gloria Pena and by his father, Samuel.
