Rodriguez, Jr., Isidro Sanchez, Jr. Delbert Duran, Jr., Patrick Vigil, Jr., Jonathan Conrad, Joe Bachicha and Lucas Bachicha serving as pallbearers.

Daniel Ismael Bachicha, known to most people as “Danny,” was born Nov. 28, 1953, in Portales to the home of Julia Ann (Baca) and Alfredo “Al” T. Bachicha, Jr. and died following a very brief illness in Lubbock, TX on June 29, 2020. Danny was a 1972 graduate of Portales Highs School, and went on to earn a degree in Education from Eastern New Mexico University. He was a talented artist, and taught art in several communities including Portales and Mountainair. For the past 18 years he has taught in Grants, NM. Danny loved children, and really enjoyed teaching them to draw and express themselves through art. He was a great story teller, liked sharing stories with his students as well as with other friends and family. For several years he was a Boy Scout Leader. Danny was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church.

A nephew added these thoughts –
“It’s ok Hito” (I recently felt/heard him consoling me as I sobbed)
The last time I heard his voice and talked to him. He asked for help. He was always busy doing odd jobs. I told him, “I would if I was there I would definitely help”. I pictured him waxing his car. Or moving something in the garage. He definitely had his moments, inaudible mumblings of dissatisfaction walking through the house. That was just him. Always seeing something that needed to be done. It was only because he cared. The multiple games of Kings Corners we played together. He had a way with us kids and going on adventures, biking, camping, hiking, and yard games. Tandem trips to arch highway lake bed wildlife refuge, Window Rock, Blackwater Draw Site, and Oasis State Park. We even built a whole golf course together in an empty field. He kept me full of wonder as he once claimed he swam all the way across the ocean in one breath, my gullible mind believed him. He taught us the rain dance because he was immersed in the native Indian culture. The Marlboro man, he always smelled like reds. Always had his blue Tallsup filled with Pepsi that I’m sure every cousin has drank out of it at one point or another. You can now call numbers and yell “BINGO!!!” in heaven. I love you very much, Uncle Danny. I will miss you. “ Mario Salazar.

Thank you from the Bachicha’s, we appreciate all your kind words, prayers, and gifts.
He is survived by his father, Alfred Bachicha of Portales; five brothers, Manuel Bachicha, Phillip Bachicha and Chris Bachicha of Portales, as well as Joseph Bachicha of Truth or Consequences, NM and Michael (Rhonda) Bachicha of Mableton, GA; seven sisters, Veronica Pena, Inez (Teofilo) Rodriguez, Patty Salazar, Kathy Vigil and Becky (Delbert) Duran of Portales and Rita (Isidro) Sanchez of Odessa, TX and Lucy (Kelly) Conrad of Ofallon, IL; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.
