Eastern New Mexico sophomore goalkeeper Ross Dalton has been named the Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in goal in the two Hound victories this past weekend.
Dalton recorded his first shutout of the season in the Hound’s 3-0 victory over DBU last Thursday night and conceded just one goal in the 18 shots he faced over the weekend. The Liverpool, Merseyside, England native also picked up the win in a 2-1 decision over St. Edward’s on Saturday afternoon and recorded five total saves for the weekend.
Dalton currently ranks eighth in the conference in saves with 30 and sports a .682 save percentage for the season. His sixth win of the season in goal on Saturday afternoon couldn’t have come at a better time as the Hounds are currently in a race to the finish in the conference standings looking to qualify for the Heartland Conference Tournament.
Eastern is currently tied atop the West Division standings alongside Lubbock Christian with eight divisional points and will square off with the Chaps on Thursday evening inside Greyhound Stadium at 7 p.m.
