Obituary

A graveside service for Dallas Brown Jones, 84, of Lubbock will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, in the Mt. Zion Cemetery with Dudley Cash officiating. Pallbearers will be Dallas Jones, III, Jordan Jones, Levi Corley, Roy Corley, Nathaniel Corley, Christian Walker, Colton Walker and Carter Walker.

Dallas Brown Jones was born on February 17, 1939, in Huron, South Dakota to the home of Anna Marie (Bymers) Jones and Lawrence Brown Jones, and died on April 28, 2023, Lubbock, Texas.

Dallas married Wanda Carter on May 23, 1959, at 2nd Street Church of Christ, Portales, NM. He served in the US Air Force from 1957 to 1977 and retired from Cannon Air Force Base. He served during the Vietnam War and was a Disabled Veteran. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Eastern New Mexico University in 1983. Dallas lived between Portales and Dora from 1971 until 2010 when Dallas and Wanda moved to Lubbock to be near his doctors. Dallas was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign War, Disabled American Veterans, and also a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a volunteer at the VA Clinic in Lubbock, TX for many years. He was also a member of the Kings Ridge Church of Christ, Lubbock, TX. Dallas loved to travel, fish, and spend time with family and friends.

Dallas is survived by his wife, Wanda Jones of the home; his children, Debra Corley & husband Wes, Dallas Jones Jr. & wife Norma, and Doug Jones & wife Kim; grandchildren, Amanda Reed, Roy Corley, Kimberly Peace, Hannah Walker, Levi Corley, Dallas Jones III, Alyssa Jones, Brianna Jones, Jordan Jones and Mikayla Jones; great grandchildren, Aurora Reed, Azlan Reed, Nathaniel Corley, Adrian Corley, Lailah Corley, Christian Walker, Colton Walker, Carter Walker, Chloe Walker and David Jones, siblings, Daryl Jones – Twin Brother & wife Virginia, Michael Jones & wife Betsy and Daniel Jones & wife Lisa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Brown and Anna Marie Jones.
