Spotlight on C&S

C&S Fuel has been a staple to the Portales community since it’s opening in 1937. Supplying the community with everything from auto parts, brakes and alignments, and propane, gas, and diesel delivery, to propane for gas grills and their 24-hour diesel and Valero station, C&S truly has it all when it comes to your vehicle and home needs!

Sisters Alyssa Idsinga and April Rutter manage the store which has always been family owned and operated. Idsinga says it feels good to be able to carry on the tradition of working with family, and shares that it’s been special being able to work both with her father, who is now mostly retired, as well as a small amount of time with her grandfather. Idsinga and Rutter have been working together for over 20 years now.
Idsinga says she is most proud of the business for their ongoing involvement in the community. She says she’s happy that C&S has supported kids in local schools and colleges, has been involved in community events, and just making Roosevelt County a better place than it already is. And when asked why she feels the company has stayed around for so long, Idsinga’s answer was simple: it was always important to both her dad and grandfather to take care of the customer first, and it’s something they still try to continue to do today!
