Obituary

Crystal Carbajal was born September 16, 1988 and passed from this life on January 22, 2022 at the age of 33. Crystal was born Crystal Macie Moore, to the home of Cindy (Moore) Reese.  Crystal has three sisters and a brother Rocio, Lucero, Iridian, and Junior. Crystal has a large family on her father Ignacio Hernandez Cuevas Jr.’s side as well, including 3 brothers Jose, who passed away at the age of 5, Harvey, and Ignacio (Nacho) and 3 sisters Cymantha, Esmeralda, and Aubriana and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Crystal attended Portales Schools through the 10th grade, she graduated from Broad Horizons Alternative School in Portales in 2006, with a CNA certificate.

Crystal has 4 children, Neveah, Nya, Nyema and Armando Jr. (AJ) Crystal married Armando Carbajal June 10, 2005 soon after his graduation Mando joined the Army and they moved to Killeen Tx. They returned to Clovis where they made their home until they separated. Crystal and her children returned to Portales.

Crystal worked a short time at KC Express where she met and worked with some of her best friends, and made friends with many of the customers. Her favorite customer was her GrandmaMom, who stopped in daily to check on her and get a scratch off ticket (or 2 or 10). When you are the oldest grand-daughter you get to name the grandparents, her grandma Melody was the mom of the most important people in Crystal’s life at that time when she started to talk, so GrandmaMom it was.

In 2015 Crystal went to work at DFA, where she was immediately accepted into that wonderful work family that she loved. DFA is where Crystal met Chris, whom she has shared her life, love and joy with since January of 2017. Chris’s family loved Crystal like she was one of their own. She joined his family on a cruise to Cozumel in 2018 and could not wait to vacation with them again.

Crystal was proceeded in death by GrandmaMom (Melody Hodges), her great grandparents Margie and Bobbie Pelton, her Papa Alvin Moore, and other grandparents and great grandparents, her brother Jose Hernandez and her step dad Billy Reese. Crystal is survived by her mother Cindy Reese, her Papa Winky (Hodges) her siblings Rocio Alodia Manquero (husband Arturo), Lucero Trujillo (husband Gabriel), Iridian Akiane Bennett, and Nestor Hernandez Jr., her siblings Cymantha Cuevas, Harvey Cuevas, Ignacio Cuevas III (Nacho), Esmeralda Cuevas, Aubriana Cuevas, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Most importantly she is survived by her children Nevaeh Senenity Carbajal, Nya Mercedes Carbajal, Nyema Jasmine Carbajal, and Armando Daniel Carbajal Jr., and her partner Christopher Dey’shun Rashad Kyles of her home.

Crystal chose cremation. There will not be a viewing or burial, however the family will receive visitors at the home of Lucero and Gabriel Trujillo on Monday January 31, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at 2316 Hammond Blvd in Clovis.  A memorial service celebrating Crystal’s life will be held at “a little old a little new” located at 1354 N Chicago in Portales on Tuesday February 1, 2022 at 11:00 am followed by a meal provided by her DFA family.

Crystal loved sunflowers, however in lieu of flowers please consider live plants or a donation in Crystal’s name for the benefit of her children.
