Cruz Orlando Valdez February 1, 2005 ~ July 21, 2024 (age 19)

Cruz, a vibrant and loving soul, left this world unexpectedly on July 21st at the young age of 19. His beautiful smile, warm heart, and knack for making others laugh touched the lives of everyone he encountered. Cruz was a natural entertainer with an organic ability to make people laugh. His playful spirit and curious mind always made him a joy to be around. Beyond his comedic talent, he was deeply kind and compassionate. He was a devoted stepfather, who poured his love and energy into caring for his two young stepchildren. His childhood love of sports bonded him with his stepchildren and led him to many games and sporting events as a token of support.

Aside from being with the boys, Cruz felt happiest at the grill. His passion for grilling and barbecuing brought many people together creating cherished memories around the table for those who knew and loved him. We will forever remember his creative cooking, and his legacy of love for trying new flavors will live on in our hearts always.

Cruz will be deeply missed by the village who raised him, including his step parents, brothers & sisters, whom he lived with from 8th grade on, his Valdez & Burciaga families, who cared for him in his early years, and the Lucero family who not only loved him but gave him the gift of life-and the world the gift of him.

Memorial Services will take place Friday, August 2 at St. Helens Catholic Church beginning with a Rosary at 9am. Cruz will then be laid to rest on top of his father. Finally, a memorial BBQ will be held at his  home.
