LUBBOCK, Texas – The Eastern New Mexico women’s cross country team finished in eighth place and the men’s team in tenth place on Saturday morning at the Texas Tech Open.

The women’s team finished with 189 points for the meet and defeated Lone Star Conference foes West Texas A&M and UT Permian Basin behind an 18th individual finish by senior Evaline Cheptoo. Cheptoo finished the 5K race with a time of 19:49.70 to pace the Greyhounds.

The men’s team finished the meet with 240 points and were paced by freshman Jon Fuentes, who posted a time of 28:20.70 to finish in 33rd place in the meet. Junior Jessie Madrid provided another solid finish for the Hounds with a time of 28:46.60 to cross the finish line in 41st place.

Freshman Amalia Delgado was next to finish the race for the Greyhounds on the women’s side, crossing with a time of 20:28.00 to finish in 30th place for the meet. Junior Kayla Sisneros finished with a time of 20:50.40 in 39th place while freshman Viridiana Ruiz recorded a time of 21:28.80 to finish in 55th place.

Senior Ivar Moinat placed 55th after recording a time of 29:44.70 to provide valued support for the Greyhound men’s team while Toby Kirk and Shane Rinde rounded out the Hound competitors with times of 31:28.00 and 32:51.10 respectively.

Eastern New Mexico will continue it’s 2019 fall schedule on Friday at the New Mexico Junior College Invitational in Hobbs, N.M.
