In their last race, both men’s and women’s program had solid first performances at the Texas Tech Open. The women’s program placed three runners inside the top ten, placing 4th of 11 teams, while the men saw one student-athlete finish inside the top ten, finishing 10th of 12 teams. Neri Getraide posted a personal best on a 5K course, placing fifth with a time of 18:36.6. Just behind was Marta Pascoa and Aminata Kenyawani, who finished 8th and 9th, with times of 19:10.5 and 19:10.6, respectively. Kelvin Kipkemboi placed 10th on the 8k course, with a mark of 20:17.4
LONE STAR CONFERENCE HONORS
Pascoa’s prominent performance earned the recognition of Lone Star Conference Women’s Cross Country Freshman Runner of the Week. Pascoa finished as the top freshman at the Texas Tech open and finished fourth among other Lone Star Conference competitors with a time of 19:10.5 on the 5k course.
THE COURSE
The Greyhounds will be running at the ACU XC Course, located just outside of the main campus of Abilene Christian University. The ACU XC Course is mostly flat, made up of 2k loops, entirely of grass or dirt.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Eastern New Mexico is one of eight institutions competing at the ACU Naimadu Classic. The seven schools are spread across all NCAA Divisions. Eastern will be representing the LSC alongside Angelo State, Lubbock Christian, and UT Permian Basin on race day.
