Members:
The coronavirus crisis is real in our state and our community and no doubt will have a profound effect on our businesses for a time. We’re going to do our best to keep you informed on news that can help your business or organization through this time.
As you know the Governor and Public Education Department has closed all schools statewide for three weeks in order to help check progression of the virus in the state. We know that will affect employees, business hours and business procedures differently in each of your businesses.
ENMU has also extended spring break for its students and plans on taking most classes online after that time.
All large public events except for churches, funerals and weddings and other exceptions are cancelled by an order from the Governor for at least a month and will be assessed further. The Chamber has cancelled some events and meetings already and will assess and notify those affected by cancellations with as much notice as possible. We will also be compiling a list of cancellations and changes as we’re able for other community events. If you have changes in your business operations that we can get the word out on let us know.
Finally, the New Mexico Economic Development Dept. has made loan assistance available to businesses affected by this crisis and will also hold a teleconference at noon today to discuss best business practices and assistance that will be available.
