FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Roosevelt County Commissioner Matthew Hunton has been appointed to the New Mexico Counties Worker’s Compensation Board of Directors. Hunton will serve as District 4 Director and will represent De Baca, Roosevelt, Lincoln, Chaves, Eddy, and Lea Counties.
“I’m excited to have been appointed to the Work Comp Board for New Mexico Counties,” stated Hunton. “I feel like I can be of service to the board. I’m eager to move forward and serve in this capacity.”
Hunton is in the third year of his first term as a County Commissioner. Hunton has 13 years of experience in the insurance industry, and has owned his agency for the past five years. His civic involvement has spanned numerous organizations, boards, and community projects and he remains extremely service-oriented as a commissioner.
“We are excited about the experience and expertise that Commissioner Hunton will bring to the Board and look forward to working with him,” stated Lance Pyle, NMCIA Workers Compensation Pool Board Chair.
NMC and New Mexico counties collaborated and founded the Workers’ Compensation Fund in 1987 and the Multi-Line Pool in 1989. The pools were formed to provide affordable coverage for counties when it was difficult and sometimes impossible for counties to obtain commercial insurance. The Law Enforcement Pool was formed in 1995 to provide liability coverage for sheriff departments and detention centers when State Risk Management decided to no longer provide coverage.
