Our beloved Colton Lee Shackleford, 23, passed away the evening of December 22, 2016. Colton, most precious gift, was born to Howard Lee Shackleford and Colleen M Ott (Howington) on January 15, 1993 in Fayetteville, NC. He moved with his parents to Fort Collins, CO when he was 8 months old.
Colton lived life passionately. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was a Master Angler. Countless memories were made sharing his love of nature and the Lord’s creation, which he cherished. He also loved horseshoes and was nationally recognized in this sport. He enjoyed ice and roller hockey and loved skating. He was an avid disk golfer and enjoyed playing with family, friends and members of his church. He was active with his church youth groups and was dedicated to living his life according to Gods word. He most recently felt called to the ministry and was pursuing his walk with the Lord.
Colton was a young man of great character, deep conviction, humble demeanor and possessed a kind and gentle heart. Colton influenced each and every life he touched and while we are left with an emptiness that will never be filled, his memory will live on forever.
He is survived by his parents, his Great Grandmother, Eve Morris (Fort Collins), Grandmothers Rosemary Shackleford (Lubbock, TX) and Judy K. Ott (Fort Collins), several Aunts and Uncles, many cousins and countless dear friends.
A memorial celebration will be held in Colton’s honor on his 24th birthday, Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Meadowlark Church of Christ at 1:00 pm. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain States Children’s Home, Longmont, CO, Meadowlark Church of Christ, Christ Center Youth Ministry’s or a charity of your choice.
