Charles Clayburn Pinkston, known to virtually everyone as Clayburn, was born Oct. 17, 1979 in Tucumcari, NM to the home of Charlene (Sours) and Stanley Pinkston and died early on the morning of Nov. 26, 2021 following an auto accident. Clayburn attended elementary school in Portales. He went to Junior High and High School in Dora, and graduated in 1998. From an early age he played basketball and baseball, starting in Pee Wee League and continued all the way through school. Shortly after he graduated, Clayburn moved to Colorado Springs, CO. After he began dating Amanda, he moved back to Portales in 2006, and they were married Dec. 15, 2007 in Ochos Rio, Jamaica. They made their home in Shallowater, TX and Portales until July of 2021 when they moved to Levelland. Clayburn was a man who did things to the max. He worked hard, played hard and loved hard.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda and their two daughters, Shelby Lane (10) and Josey Kate (3) who is lovingly referred to as “Hell on Wheels”; his parents, Charlene and Stanley Pinkston of Portales; his mother-in-law, Fran Bilberry and his father-in-law, Mike (Stacey) Bilberry both of Portales; his sister and brother-in-law, Audra and Rusty Higgins of Portales; and his nephew, Troy Eugene Higgins.  Clayburn was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Mary Sours and Charles Clayburn and Ola May Pinkston.
