The Eastern New Mexico women’s basketball program has announced the addition of junior college transfer Sydney Clark of Las Vegas, Nevada.
The 5’7 guard will join the Greyhound family after spending time at both Umpqua Community College in Oregon, as well as the College of Southern Idaho. Her best season came back in 2015-16 during which time she averaged 12 points per contest and two assists on her way to being named a Second Team All-NWAC selection.
“We are pleased to welcome Sydney Clark to our family and it is especially great to be able to add someone of her quality at this late of a date,” Eastern New Mexico head women’s basketball coach Josh Prock said. “She is a very versatile guard who will really get after you defensively and can also shoot it from all areas of the court.”
Clark will head to Portales fresh off the heels of a quality performance in the region tournament for CSI (College of Southern Idaho), in which she averaged 13 points and three rebounds to cap off her junior college career. Prior to her career in the collegiate ranks, Clark was selected as a First Team All-State selection and a Second Team All-Conference performer during her time at Liberty High School.
“She comes from one of the best women’s basketball junior college programs in the country and coach Rogers and coach Edwards do a tremendous job with their team’s so we know she will be well coached and ready to go,” coach Prock said. “Along with her talents on the court, Sydney will also be a tremendous asset off the court as well for our program.”
Clark will join a contingent of multiple new faces on the court this season for Eastern as coach Prock and his staff have already added multiple junior college and four year transfers as well as five incoming true freshman for the 2018-19 season.
