The Roosevelt County Chamber announced the winners of the annual Portales Lighted Christmas Parade
held Friday, Dec. 1.
Leading the parade was Little Miss Merry Christmas 2023 Janae Kuchta and her court of princesses.
Janae is the daughter of Josh and Dawn Kuchta of Floyd. Eight young ladies vied for the title and raised
$10, 439 for Christmas lighting programs and the Portales Fireworks fund.
In the coveted Business Category of the parade the winner was C&S, Inc. with their float featuring real-life Barbie Doll Christmas presents.
In the Church Category, First Baptist Church of Dora was judged the best entry. Finally, in the Nonprofit/Individual Category Richard Villanueva’s Tractor Choo Choo was the winner.
Awards for the parade winners will be presented at the Chamber’s Christmas Open House, Tuesday,
Dec. 19 at 12 noon at the Chamber, 100 S. Ave. A. Chamber members and the public are invited to stop
by for a lunch of enchilada casserole and Christmas goodies
