The winners of the 2016 Portales Light Parade are: C&S, Inc – Business; Dora Fire Dept., non-profit; Foundations of Faith, church. A special highlight of the parade was The Ram Football team riding through town as the new State Champions.  A Ram memory maker for sure!
If you were lucky enough to watch from Beverly Bennett’s office, you were treated to hot chocolate, spiced apple cider and cookies before the parade started.  Beverly said that “It was the first time for Tres Sigler the ENMU Basketball coach’s little girls ages 4 and 2 to see any parade, and watching their excitement was every bit as fun as watching the parade”   “They yelled Merry Christmas to every one passing by in the parade and were just amazed that there was candy being tossed to them”
The streets were lined with people out to watch the parade even in freezing temperatures.   Every year the parade gets bigger and brighter.  Can’t wait till next year.
