Obituary

Chris N. Christiansen was born Feb. 17, 1943 in Denver, CO to H. P. and Jan Christiansen, and died Dec. 9, 2020 at his home in Portales, NM.  At the age of three, the family moved to Thermopolis, WY.  He graduated from High School, and continued his education at Black Hill State University in Spearfish, SD.  He obtained his Master’s Degree in Special Education at Montana State University in Billings, MT, and also continued with post-graduate certifications in School Administration and Finance.

Chris built two residential programs for Special Ed students in Wyoming and Arizona.  He established Boards of Cooperative Services in the state school districts for Special Ed students.  In 2005, he and his wife of 52 years moved to Portales for retirement and to be close to their children.

Chris is survived by his wife, Linda and their four children, Ky (Debbie) Christiansen of Mesa, AZ, Brandy (J D) McKinley of Las Cruces, NM, Way (Brenda) Christiansen of Loveland, CO and Kam (Randy) Knight of Portales.  He is also survived by eight grandchildren, April Wynn, Tori Wofford, Cutter Christiansen, Peyton and Braxton McKinley, Aidan Christiansen and Kelsey and Breely Knight.  Also surviving is his brother Wayne Christiansen of Thermopolis, WY.

Chris enjoyed all sports, ranching, golf and baling hay with special friends, Hal and Paul.  Cremation has taken place, and a private family gathering will follow.
