Statewide outreach events highlight services available to families

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Health Care Authority launches a yearlong series of statewide events this month to mark the 50th anniversary of its child support program and connect families with resources.

“Our free services help parents navigate the child support process and connect paying parents with employment services,” said Betina Gonzales McCracken, director of CSSD. “This family-centered approach ensures New Mexico’s children receive the support they need to thrive.”

The statewide outreach events will highlight the comprehensive services CSSD provides, including:

  • Locating the other parent when needed.
  • Establishing parentage.
  • Establishing court-ordered financial and medical support.
  • Enforcing court orders by collecting and distributing monthly obligations.
  • Providing paying parents with employment and job-training resources.

Applying for child support services is now easier than ever through the YES.NM.GOV site, where parents can apply, manage cases, upload documents, and make payments online.

Currently, New Mexico has approximately 50,000 active child support cases. In 2024, the program collected $119.2 million, with 98 percent of funds going directly to families.

The first outreach events will take place at the State Capitol during the legislative session, followed by events in Las Cruces and other locations across the state.
