PORTALES, NM – For his performance in the season finale, Eastern New Mexico University senior fullback Kamal Cass is a finalist for HEROSports.com D2 Football HERO of the Week. Cass’ performance against Fourth-ranked Midwestern State also earned the Hounds the 24th spot in CompughterRatings.com national poll.
Cass registered his finest game for the Hounds, carrying the ball a career-high 38 times and averaged an incredible 7.3 yards per carry. He entered the contest needing 178 yards to break Tom Manley’s ENMU career rushing (1973-76, 4,202 yards). The senior fullback sprinted through the defense of the nation’s fourth-ranked team for a career-best 276 yards to go along with three touchdowns. With 1,448 rushing yards this season, Cass established a new Greyhound mark with 4,301 total yards to go along with his 50 rushing touchdowns. The Greyhounds have been in the Compughter Ratings poll throughout the season and are the third-highest ranked Lone Star Conference team this week.
