Carl Joe Steffen March 28, 1958 ~ July 20, 2024 (age 66)

Graveside services for Carl Steffen, 66, of Portales will be held at 1:00 PM, Fri., July 26, 2024 in the Portales Cemetery with Rev. J. Vito Monteblanco officiating.  Steve Levacy, Frank Levacy, Mark Walker, Billy Walker,Jerry Williams, Cole Rowland and Darryl Cameron will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Carl Joe Steffen was born Mar. 28, 1958 in Portales to the home oof Verma Rae “Peggy” Rogers and Luther Thomas Edwards, and died July 20, 2024 in Portales.  Mr. Steffen attended the Portales schools.  He competed in team roping events at rodeos.  He loved horses, and was riding every time he could.  Through the years he had driven trucks for AMPI, Steve Levacy, Frank Levacy, and Welch Trucking.

He is survived by three sons, Chris Steffen of Portales, Cody Steffen and Carlton and Andrea Casey of Lubbock, Texas; two daughters, Melody and Brian Carroll of Greenwood, TX and Sarah Stewart of OK; seen grandchildren, Blayne and Payton (Kristi) Casey, Chase and Denver Carroll, Miley Steffen and Hunter and Sophia Stewart; a great-grandchild, Bryson Woodley Casey; and a brother, Shawn (Kim) Edwards of Houston, TX.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Levi Edwards and a sister, Barbara Riley.
