The 45th annual Peanut Valley Festival begins Oct. 20-21 at the Roosevelt County Fairgrounds in Portales and kids will have plenty to do at the event.
The highlight of this year’s PVF will be the fun during the Peanut Olympics scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday on the slab. The games are open to ages 4-8 and include various games such as Zia Peanut toss, peanut sack race, peanut shelling, peanut eating, peanut relay, peanut blowing and stick horse peanut barrel race. The Portales High School Band members will be in charge of the games.
There will be prizes for all participants and all who participate are eligible for a drawing for $200 in door prizes. You have to participate to win though.
Other activities for kids include face painting, bounce houses, St. Helen Fiesta’s cow train and a chance to check out what it’s like to be a knight at the Medieval Village.

Admission is free (except gun show) and parking is also available on the west side off Boston Ave. as well as the south side of the fairgrounds off Lime Street. Handicap parking, with placard is available inside the grounds, both west of the midway buildings and north of the Pavilion. The
