WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS -Freshman pitcher Kaylee Rogers blanked Midwestern State (10-13; LSC 3-6) and allowed one hit, as the Eastern New Mexico University softball team (13-14; LSC 6-3) split a Lone Star Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Hounds claimed an 11-0 win in the nightcap after they dropped a 6-3 decision in the opener at Mustangs Park.
The weekend marked the first time the Greyhounds claimed a LSC series against Midwestern State and the third overall victory in the all-time series for ENMU. In the nightcap, the Greyhounds matched an all-time series high with 11 runs, a feat accomplished last season in a 13-11 setback. For the season, ENMU is 5-1 on the road in league play. The third inning saw the Hounds push the lead to 4-0 after a RBI double from Samantha Brockman, followed by a run-scoring single from Kamalani Peneku. After tacking on two more runs in the fourth, ENMU sent 10 batters to the plate in the fifth and pulled away with five runs.
The Hounds pounded out a season-best 17 hits for the game with Susannah Chandler and Samantha Brockman having three apiece. In the fourth inning, Erikka Burke pulled into a tie for the LSC lead, with her eighth homer of the season. Burke, Kylee Keller, Brockman, and Courtney Vigil also had doubles.
