The Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball team signed Nick Brown on Wednesday in part of National Signing Day. The guard joins the Greyhounds after playing at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif.

“Nick is a truly special player that we feel can come in and help us with our goals of winning the Lone Star Conference as well as helping us make our run at a National Championship,” ENMU Head Coach Tres Segler said. “He is a sharpshooter from the perimeter that will force defenses in our league to respect him, and that ultimately will continue to open up the lane for his teammates. Nick has proven that he is a high-character athlete who is ready for the highest level of Division II basketball and we are so excited to add him to the Greyhound Family!”

The Pasadena High School product average 10.1 points/game with the Mounties, grabbing 4.4 boards and dishing out 1.4 dimes/game to earn South Coast Conference Honorable Mention. The 6-3 guard helped MTSAC to a 17-win season and postseason berth, finishing third in the SCC North. Brown had 12 games of 10 points, including a pair of 20 point outbursts last season and also had 10 games with at least three, three pointers, shooting above 40% from beyond the arc for the season.

“We are so grateful to his mother, Nichole, and father, Nathan, who have raised him to be a great student and athlete,” Segler added. “Coach Clark Maloney and the entire Mt. San Antonio program deserves high praise for producing another great West Coast talent capable of impacting the LSC.”

The Greyhounds return six players from last season’s 13-15 squad. Head Coach Tres Segler led the Green and Silver to the most Lone Star Conference wins as a first-year head coach during the 2016-17 campaign. Additionally, Segler’s Hounds had the third-most wins under a first-year head coach.
