SAN ANGELO, TEXAS -Sophomore catcher Samantha Brockman batted 2-for-2 and homered for the third time this season, as the Eastern New Mexico University softball team (13-12; LSC 6-5) opened a Lone Star Conference series on Friday afternoon. The blast came in the third inning of an 8-1 setback to Angelo State (23-1; LSC 8-0) in the doubleheader’s opening game at Mayer Field. The fourth-ranked Rambelles also claimed a 12-0 victory in the nightcap.
The teams will meet again in the series finale on Saturday at 12 p.m. MT
The Long ball
- Brockman’s homer was ENMU’s 26th of the season
- Eastern is one homerun away from tying for 10th on the program’s single-season list

Game 1
- Hanna Gary went the distance for ENMU and allowed four earned runs on eight hits
- Eastern trailed 4-0 when Brockman homered to get ENMU on the board to lead off the third inning
- Morgan Hill tossed six innings for ASU and allowed four hits
- Jennifer McElroy batted 2-for-3 in the game
Game 2
- Parker Smith and Precious Aguirre each had singles for the Hounds
- Elena Garcia drew a fourth-inning walk
- Angelo State took the lead on a RBI double from Taegan Kirk in the first inning and pulled away for the win
