Obituary

Funeral services for Bill Davis, 75, of Lubbock will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Phillip Smith officiating. He will be laid to rest at Portales, NM Cemetery.

William (Bill) Abbey Davis was born to the home of Charles Abbey and Imagene (Roberts) Davis on July 10, 1946, in Ft. Sumner, NM. He was the fourth child of six to this marriage. He took his journey to heaven on March 4, 2022 at the age of 75 from his home in Lubbock TX after a lengthy and well-fought battle with cancer.

Bill gradated from Dora High School in 1964.

He married Valda June Day on September 7, 1968, they were married 53 years. He was a member of NM National Guard. Bill worked for many years as a foreman of the Swift Meat Packing Company in Clovis, NM and after moving to Lubbock in 1980 worked for Teletrust Inc. which he retired from in 2001.

Bill loved his family and friends dearly and particularly enjoyed spending hours with them on the lake fishing, boating, and enjoying their lake house at Conchas Lake, NM. The lake was always his “happy place”.

Bill is survived by his wife, Valda, his daughter, Cari Jones of Vancouver, WA, and his son Ryan and wife, Nicole of Austin, TX and grandkids: Baylee , Avery, Jacob Jones, Tatum, Alexx and McKay Davis.

Sisters Alfreda and husband Larry Witt of Camdenton, MO and Ruth and husband James Smith of Portales, NM; brothers Sam and wife Mary of Cortez, CO, and Jim and wife De Anna of Portales NM, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Imagene and dad, Charles, and stepfather, J.C. McCormick, as well as his brother, Roy Davis.
