Graveside services for Betty Lou Moore, 95, of Elida, NM will be held at 10:30 AM, Sat., Dec. 31, 2022 in the Elida Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Kinman officiating. The members of her family will be honorary pallbearers.
Betty Lou Moore was born Mar. 15, 1925 in Bledsoe, TX to the home of Frances Elizabeth “Faye” (Savage) and Clayton Standefer and died on the evening of Dec. 24, 2022 in Portales. Her family moved to the Elida area when she was a girl. On Aug. 14, 1944 in Elida, she was married to Jack Moore. She and her husband ran a dairy and farmed south of Elida throughout their married life. She was a member of the Kenna Community Church, as well as the Elida Homemakers Club. Mrs. Moore was an accomplished artist, producing countless oil paintings. In addition, she made a great many quilts. Mrs. Moore always had a large garden, and canned the produce each year, and as a farm wife, she was also a wonderful cook. Betty Lou was a very devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, B. J. and Mary Lou Moore of Elida; seven grandchildren, Kristi and Cody Guss, Melissa and Dave Lemons, Cindy and Drew Brassfield, Scotty and Coco Wright, Terri and Ray Teeter, Kelli Jo and Shane Peach and Brandi and Brandon Brown; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Billie Jo Allen of Roswell, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Joe, Bud and Jay Standefer, three sisters, Evelyn Ellis, Anna Faye Lee and Jimmie Starr, a son, Tommy Moore who died in 2018 and a daughter, Joyce Marie Wright who died in 2020, as well by her beloved husband, Jack, who died Aug. 14, 1994 after 50 years of marriage.
