Obituary

Benjamin Wayne Tabor joined his Heavenly Father on March 12, 2020 while surrounded by his family. Ben was born December 10, 1984 in Rocky Ford, Colorado to Brian and Zoe Tabor.

As a child he was always busy and on-the-go and wanted to try his hand in everything. As he got older, his family moved to Portales before finally settling in Elida, NM where he attended High School. Ben’s fun filled attitude was contagious and was often referred to as the “class clown.” His main goal in life was to make people happy. He loved singing old songs and making up his own along the way. His favorite movie was “Paint Your Wagon” and you better believe he would quote it word for word and sing “Mariah” like he was in it himself. The Elida community quickly became family to Ben and you would often find him horseback helping someone with their spring work. His love for horses only grew after he graduated from Elida High School. He would day work for surrounding neighbors who he called family, and take in colts to break. In his free time, Ben loved to spend his time in the outdoors. He had a great love for camping, hunting, and fishing (even if Doug the raccoon stole all the fish.) Even though Ben loved all these things, his reasons for living came to him on June 18, 2008 with the birth of his twins, Tae Wayne and Julieann Michelle Tabor. He was always bragging on his kids and loved to teach them about horses, the outdoors, and how to just have fun and laugh.

Ben was preceded in death by his grandparents Lester and Lucille Tabor and Mike and Marty Barron as well as his beloved sister-in-law Amy Hines. He is survived by his children, Tae and Julie of Portales; his parents, Brian and Zoe Tabor of Elida; his sister, Michelle Ward and her husband Jesse as well as their 3 kids, Jaylee, Abby, and Coy of Ft. Sumner; his brother, Justin Hines and his 3 kids, Addison, Nathan and Tylor of Clovis and his uncle Richard tabor of Elida; and Uncle Keith and Aunt Teri Tabor of Springer, New Mexico.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at the Arch Baptist Church in Arch NM with Brother Herb Gage officiating.
