5/1/2021 | Baseball | Box ScoreKINGSVILLE, Texas – The Eastern New Mexico baseball team finished out the regular season with a 5-2 loss at Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday afternoon.

The Javelinas took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning after Giancarlo Servin sent a run home on a fielder’s choice.

Eastern responded in the top of the fourth with one run to tie the game up. Braeton Matthews walked to get on base and then stole second and third. Nicholas Tamez hit a sacrifice fly to right field to send B. Matthews home and make it a 1-1 game.

Texas A&M-Kingsville tallied two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to gain a 5-1 advantage.

The Hounds saw one more run score in the top of the sixth on a sacrifice fly from Rio Granger to cut the deficit to 5-2, but ultimately the Javelinas held on the rest of the way to secure the victory and series sweep.

B. Matthews had the lone hit for Eastern in the contest. Granger and Tamez paced the team in RBI with one each.

Dalton Thatcher got the start and loss on the mound for the Hounds. He allowed five hits, three runs (one earned), and four walks while striking out two batters in 4.0 innings. Alex Kuhn and Liam Sabistonalso saw time on the hill throughout the remainder of the contest and each recorded one strikeout.
