3/27/2021 | Baseball | Box ScoreOKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Eastern New Mexico baseball team finished out a three-game series with Oklahoma Christian on Saturday afternoon. The Greyhounds fell by a score of 12-2.
The Eagles took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning. They extended that advantage to 8-0 in the bottom of the second with five runs on four hits, highlighted by an RBI triple from Kevin Collyar and a two-run homer from Tanner White.
Oklahoma Christian continued to add to the lead with one run in the third and three runs in the fourth inning.
In the top of the seventh, the Greyhounds were looking to snap the shutout. Daniel Hunt got things started with a double to right field. Hunt advanced to third on a fly out from Nick Schifftner and then rounded home on a Rio Granger single. Eastern saw Granger score after a double from Andres Quintana.
However, the Eagles shut down the Eastern bats from that point to secure the 12-2 seven inning win.
Offensively, Granger led the Hounds as he went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double. Hunt, Quintana, and Nicholas Tamez, also all recorded one hit throughout the contest.
On the mound, Dalton Thatcher got the start and was credited with the loss. Liam Sabiston, Jason Vasil, and Shaun Watson also pitched in the game. Vasil led the team in strikeouts with four.
Eastern is back in action for a three-game series at St. Mary’s next weekend. The series kicks off with a doubleheader on April 2 starting at 1 p.m.
