PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Baseball head coach Riley Price recently announced the addition of 20 new student-athletes to the ENMU baseball team ahead of the 2022 season. Nine field players and 11 new arms have been added to the Hounds’ lineup. The class features 11 transfers and nine first-years.

The eleven new pitchers consist of five transfers: Ruger Bravo (Albuquerque, N.M.), Reed Carter (Mona, Utah), Vernon Hart (San Angelo, Texas), Javier Luna (Roanoke, Texas), and Tommy Perez (Albuquerque, N.M.). Along with six freshmen: Noah De La Riva(El Paso, Texas), Joshua Martin (Clovis, N.M.), John Martinez (Corpus Christi, Texas), Juan Milera (Laredo, Texas), Raiden Salas (San Antonio, Texas), and Taylor Sellers (Denver City, Texas). Price will have options from the recruiting class, with six right handers and five left handers.

“This class of pitchers we brought in will really help our overall depth on the mound this year and I’m really excited about some of the young talent that’s in this group,” said head coach Riley Price. “Having somewhat of a normal fall this year, it will be fun to watch this group develop and compete for important roles going into the spring,” said Price.

In the field, there are six transfers: Luke Baca (Albuquerque, N.M.), Juan Chaparro (Longmont, Colo.), Jorge Colon (Dallas, Texas), JD Schaffer (La Crescenta, Calif.), Spencer Roach (Cape Coral, Fla.), and Thomas Wisneski (Belen, N.M.) and three freshman: David Davalos (Texico, N.M.), Dax Edmonds (Walters, Okla.), and Bryce Perez (Bloomfield, N.M.). The nine new fielders are split between five infielders, three outfielders, and one catcher.

“This group of position players are hungry for competition and have really revitalized our lineup and overall depth. We have a great mixture of personality and each brings a different strength to this roster,” explained Price. “This group is extremely coachable and adds a lot of energy and a competitive edge to our returning roster,” said Price.

The Eastern New Mexico baseball team has begun preparation on and off the field for the upcoming 2022 season. In 2021, the Hounds finished the season with an overall record of 8-30 and 7-28 mark in Lone Star Conference play.
