For the second straight week, Eastern New Mexico baseball will face off against nationally ranked competition as #12 Angelo State University come to Portales for a four-game conference series. Thursday, Apr. 14, the Greyhounds and Rams meet in the series opener with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. The next day, ENMU play a doubleheader against the Rams with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. The series ends on Saturday, Apr. 16, beginning at 1 p.m. The national ranking is based on the latest National Colligate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) poll.

LAST TIME OUT 

• In its last series, the Hounds played #23 Lubbock Christian taking one game from the Chaps, while falling in two close contests.
• The series started with a tight affair, but the Chaparrals winning 5-3. Game two saw the LCU hitting come alive in a 20-1 win over the Hounds.
• In game three, everything clicked for Eastern taking the game 16-1 in the programs best win against the Hounds in program history. Ruger Bravo tossed a complete game allowing just one run, while Spencer Roach supplied five RBIs in the win.
• For the series finale, Eastern fought hard to come back from a five run deficit in the final two innings, but LCU won on a walk-off 13-12. Camden Matthews and Roach each finished with four hits in the game.

SCOUTING THE RAMS 

• In its last series, the Rams played #14 West Texas A&M falling in three games before winning the final game of the series, 12-6. On the season, the Rams hold a 28-10 record and a conference standing of 26-10.
• Overall, the Rams have a batting average of .323, scoring 322 runs with 380 hits in the game. ASU have totaled 282 RBIs, and on base percentage of .455, and a .471 slugging percentage. On the mound, Rams pitchers hold a 5.47 ERA with 265 strikeouts, and a opposing batting average of .277.
• Justin Lee leads the team at the plate with a .390 batting average and 40 RBIs. Just behind Lee, Austin Beck has .370 batting average, totaling 47 hits, 38 RBIs, and leads the team in 41 runs. Aaron Walters leads the squad in hits with 49.
• On the hill, Jake Rogers leads the team with a 7-1 record, while holding a 4.78 ERA. Benjamin Elder has is the top starter for the Rams with a 3.00 ERA and an opposing batting average of .242.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS 

• The Hounds enter the weekend with a 15-21 record and an LSC standing of 14-20. ENMU hitters have a .271 batting average, scoring 219 runs from 305 hits. The Hounds pitching has a 7.53 ERA, posting 240 strikeouts and an opposing batting average of .311.
• Roach leads the program with a .386 batting average and 49 hits. Nick Schifftner sports a .336 BA, and lead the team in RBIs with 31. C. Matthews holds a .318 average and leads the team in stolen bases with 12.
• Bravo has been one of the top pitchers on the staff in recent weeks, with three complete game wins in his last three starts, and leads the team with a 5-3 record. Dalton Thatcher has the top ERA on the staff at 4.02. Damian Acosta leads the team with 61 strikeouts.
