Eastern New Mexico Baseball prepare for its final home series of the season, as the Greyhounds will welcome Texas A&M A&M-Kingsville to Portales, this weekend. The series begins on Friday, Apr. 29, with a start time of 6 p.m. The next day, a doubleheader set to start at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. The series ends on Sunday, May 1, beginning at 1 p.m., this day will also serve as the Greyhounds Senior Day. This past week, the Javelinas received votes in the latest National Colligate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) poll.
LAST TIME OUT
• Last weekend, the Hounds were dealt a tough sweep from Texas A&M International.
• The Dustdevils picked up a commanding 10-0 in seven innings to open the series, and the Hounds fell in a narrow game two, 7-6.
• TAMIU took home the final two contest by a score of 16-0 and 7-2.
SCOUTING THE JAVELINAS
• Texas A&M-Kingsville enter the weekend after taking three games form #5 West Texas A&M University. Overall, the Javelinas have a record of 28-14, while posting a 26-14 LSC standing.
• As a group, TAMUK have a .302 batting average, scoring 287 runs from 382 hits. The Javelina offense posts an .406 on-base percentage with 255 RBIs. Kingsville post the top pitching staff in the LSC, with an ERA of 4.49 along with 343 strikeouts.
• Nick Wolff is the team’s top hitter, holding a .379 batting average and leading the team with 10 homeruns. Shelby Becker holds 52 hits this season, while Ginacarlo Servin has the team lead in RBIs at 41.
• Brandon Symmank is the teams ace on the mound, with a conference low 3.24 ERA in 10 starts this season and a 5-3 record. Kolby Lunsford leads the team in wins with a 6-1 record.
