After day one of the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Greyhound Stadium, senior Ezra Bagwell led the Greyhound competitors as he sits in sixth in the decathlon while freshman Jessica Campbell ranks eighth in the heptathlon event.
With Eastern New Mexico hosting the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships for the first time in the program’s history, the opening day included the first four events of the women’s heptathlon and the first five events of the men’s decathlon.
In her first four events of the heptathlon, Campbell scored 2338, notching 640 of those points with an eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash. Campbell’s top finish on the day came in the high jump, placing fifth with 1.51-meter leap worth 632 points.
On the men’s side, Bagwell racked up 3123 points in the first five events on the pentathlon, turning in his best finish in the high jump with a 1.81-meter mark, scoring 636 points.
The Hounds will wrap up the multi-events tomorrow on day two of the LSC Outdoor Track and Field Championships while field events and track prelims will get underway. Multi-events will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the decathlon 110-meter hurdles, field events will start at 1 p.m. with the women’s shot put, and running events will get underway at 5 p.m. with the women’s 3000-meter steeplechase.
