Eastern New Mexico student-athletes Caroline Bachman and Liam Sabiston earned the Lone Star Conference Scholar-Athlete Award for 2020-21, as announced by the conference office.

Each academic year, the LSC presents a Scholar-Athlete Award to one male and one female student-athlete at member institutions. These student-athletes represent the outstanding accomplishments in athletics, scholarship, and leadership that are on display at each LSC campus during the year.

In order to be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must have participated at least two years in their sport and be a member of the graduating class.

Bachman spent four years as a member of the Eastern cross country and track and field programs. She is a three-time track and field LSC All-Academic Team honoree. During her junior year, at the Indoor LSC Championships she placed 14th in the 800-meter and helped the Greyhound 4×400 relay team to a fourth place finish.

Sabiston spent three years with the Greyhounds baseball team as a pitcher. During the 2021 season he made 14 appearances on the mound with a 0-1 record and one save. In 29.2 innings of work, he had an 11.83 ERA with 21 strikeouts.
