The Portales Rams faced a familiar opponent on Friday, October 11. They traveled to Dexter, NM to face the Devils on their home field. It wasn’t long after kickoff however that the Rams showed why they have only one loss this season.
Just 11 short minutes after the 7:00 PM kickoff, Portales’ Jalen Allen (#11) caught a pass for the first points of the game. The momentum continued for the Rams after, with Kellan Hightower (#3) and Romeo Gbassagee (#23) adding 2 more touchdowns to the score. Meanwhile, the Portales defense did their job also, and held Dexter to just 7.
By the end of just one quarter, Portales was up 20-7, which was good, because neither team scored in the entire 2nd quarter.
After halftime, Portales kicked to Dexter, but possession was quickly returned to the Rams who took immediate advantage. Jalen Allen (#11) caught another touchdown pass, adding 6 more to the Rams already dominating lead. The remainder of the game continued the same, and Portales came out on top with a score nearly tripling the points they allowed Dexter.
The final of the game was 40-14, and the Rams are now 6-1 this season. They are currently ranked #1 in NMAA Class 4A!!
They face Ruidoso for their first district game on October 18 at Greyhound Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
