Here at The Roosevelt Review we are committed to going to the pound and taking pictures to publish in the hope that even one dog or cat will find a forever home; however, this week was very sad as some of the same faces have been there since the last time we were there and the time before.
The Portales Animal Shelter is clean and warm with food and water for everyone, but it is not a home. For many of the dogs it is a very noisy and scary place. The fear shows in their faces as they look at you. Many of them have had pretty rough lives before ending up there and that shows in their faces as well, as they try to determine if you are a good person or a bad person, they are just not sure at first.
If you are considering a pet, please go by and look there before seeking elsewhere. If you pick one to go home with you, please spay or neuter and provide your new friend with lots of love and care. These animals deserve no less.
Also, the Shelter is in need of leashes, toys, above the ground beds and collars. If you have some to spare drop them off at the Portales Animal Shelter.
