SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Eastern New Mexico men’s basketball team was handed an 93-62 loss by Angelo State University on Saturday afternoon.
The first half started as a back-and-forth affair as the Greyhounds and Rams fought for the advantage. With just under 10 minutes remaining in the frame, ENMU held a slight 17-16 lead.
The Rams then went on a 15-2 run (8:47-4:42) to gain the 31-19 advantage. Angelo State maintained that lead throughout the rest of the frame to head into halftime up, 45-24.
ASU continued to control the offensive tempo of the contest through the second half. The Rams eventually came away with the 93-62 victory.
NOTABLE STATS
- Kentrell Pullian led the ENMU offense with 11 points. Marvin Mapaga and Niko Bossinakiseach added eight points.
- Cornell Greenwood paced the defense with eight rebounds and three steals.
- For the Rams, Tyrell Carroll had a game-high 16 points. Dante Moses and Kelyn Pennie both had 15 points. On the glass, Salisu Yahaya pulled down eight rebounds.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Hounds shift to 6-11 overall and 2-6 in Lone Star Conference play.
- Angelo State improves to 14-5 overall and 4-3 in the conference.
- The Rams lead the overall series between the two programs, 45-35. ASU has won the last three contests.
- Eastern is back in action on Thursday, February 3 for a 7:30 p.m. matchup against DBU in Greyhound Arena.
