Obituary
Funeral services for Andy Wall, 95, of Portales will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Morgan & Rev. Wesley McAfee officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with the Deacons of Calvary Baptist Church, Jim Russell, Billy Owen, Jr., Larry Shearer, Jimmy Roberts, Gary Essary, Andy Andrade, Billy Stacy, Hillery Beggs, Joe Turner and Lloyd McCargish serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Wall, Andrew Wall, Josh Doggett, Dickie Wall, Mike Gilbert and Phillip Jones.
Andy Lee Wall was born on July 24, 1928, in Sayre, Oklahoma, to the home of Docia Esther (Franklin) and Ernest Clayton Wall, Sr., and died on October 12, 2023, Lubbock, Texas.
Andy moved from Sayre to Morton, Texas and later they moved to Portales where he attended school and graduated high school. On July 24, 1948, Andy married Daphne Jean Reed at Calvary Baptist Church in Portales. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 75 years. He served as a deacon at Calvary and he devoted his life to serving God and helping others.
Andy worked for Portales Public Schools as the Maintenance Superintendent for over 30 years until he retired. He was well known by the members of the band because he would always help transport their instruments to the events they went to.
Mr. Wall was very active with helping other members of the church and the community. He would help those in need by painting their houses or fixing their fences and many other things they may need. He would often go and sit with others at the hospital when they were sick.
In his free time, Andy loved to go camping and to travel and also enjoyed watching football. He especially loved to talk to and spend time with all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Andy is survived by his son, J. Keith Wall of Clovis; his daughter, Teri Wall of Clovis; his brother, Ernest Clayton Wall, Jr. of Portales; his sister, Etta Marie Wall Gilbert of Plainview, Texas; five grandchildren, Angela Tracey, Stephen Wall, Andrew Wall, Kristina Doggett and Amy Wall; eight great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Daphne Wall who died in 2002, a son, Alan Wall who died in 2021, a brother, Lloyd Wall, a sister, Leona Summers and a granddaughter, Amanda Wall.
