Omer Almog and Coley Norcross paced the Eastern New Mexico University cross country teams at the NCAA Division II South Central Region Championships, held at the West Texas A&M University Cross Country Rand in Canyon, Texas. Eastern’s men’s team placed 18th at the meet, while the women’s squad came in 22nd.

The men’s team compiled 541 points in the meet, which was won by Adams State (35 points). Colorado Mines (38 points) was the runner up, while Western State (129 points) came in third place. The race featured 189 runners from 28 schools.

Almog’s time of 31:25.75 earned a 14th-place finish in the 10k run. He crossed the finish line just over half a second after Logan Ramlet from Colorado-Mines. Garrett Meyer placed 111th at 34:30.47, while Lorenzo Juarez was 115th at 34:36.10.

The women’s team finished with 562 points in the championships, with Adams State finishing first with 22 points. The runner-up was Colorado-Mines (82 points), while Western State took third (82 points). The meet featured 182 runners from 27 schools

Norcross crossed the finish line at the 23:49.70 mark for a 77th-place finish. She was just .03 seconds behind Texas A&M-Commerce’s Laura Alicke in the 6k run. Abby Kepfer registered an 89th-place finish at 24:10.71, while Mason Swanson placed 133rd at 25:01.86.
