Obituary
A simple graveside service for Diana Danforth, 77, of Portales, was held at 10:00 AM, Sat., April 10, 2021 in the Causey Cemetery with her sons, John Danforth and Jerry Danforth officiating. Various family members served as pallbearers.
Alice Diana Danforth was born Sept. 6, 1943, in Roswell, NM to the home of Alice May (Davidson) and Charles Caywood, and died in Amarillo, TX early on the morning of April 7, 2021. Mrs. Danforth grew up in Roswell. On Aug. 28, 1960, she was married to Gerald Dean Danforth. They moved several times until finally settling in Portales in 1979. Diana was a stay at home wife and mother except for a very short time when she worked in food services at Eastern New Mexico University. She enjoyed oil painting. Diana had a very green thumb, and could grow plants of all kinds. She was a prolific gardener, and canned the produce. It seemed that whatever she decided to do, she would do it well. She was a devout Christian. She enjoyed the fellowship at the Floyd Methodist Church as well as at Central Christian Church in Portales.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Tamara Danforth of Amarillo and John and Lori Danforth of Portales; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Ted Sproles of Wallace, ID and Becky and Tony Clausen of Kellog, ID; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Caywood of Millarville, Canada; and two sisters, Linda Vorce of Emmett, ID and Katie Davidson of Elgin, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Charles Caywood, three sisters, Charlotte Waters, Ruth Webb and Samantha Crowell, and by her husband, Gerald Danforth who died April 26, 2010.
