The Rosary for Alex H. Baca, 66, of Portales, will be recited at 9:00 AM, Wed., May 29, 2019 at St. Helen Catholic Church, followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 AM with Fr. Francisco Carbajal as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Abel Montano, Phillip Baca, Michael Baca, Michael A. Baca, Julio Baca and Eric Baca serving as pallbearers.

Alex Henry Baca, known to family and friends as Henry, was born June 27, 1952 in Villanueva, NM to the home of Emma (Bustamante) and Florentino Baca and died at his home in Portales on May 22, 2019. Mr. Baca came to Portales to make his home when he was just a boy, and attended the Portales Schools. His first job was at a filling station. Later he went to work for ENMU as a baker and was sent to Cimmaron, NM to work at Philmont Boy Scout Ranch. In 1972, he returned to Portales and went to work for the City as a heavy equipment operator. He retired from the City in the early 1990’s, and soon went back to work at ENMU as a baker. He retired in 2014 as the Food Services Manager. Henry loved to drive fast, drink beer, and go camping in the mountains with his family. In the mid 1990’s he was married to Patsy Ulibarri.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy of the home; his sons, Gilbert Baca and his fiance, Mary Navarrete of Portales, Eric Baca of Portales, Abel Montano and his wife, Yvonne of Albuquerque and David Montano and his wife, Bonnie of Las Vegas, NM; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his parents, Emma and Florentino Baca of Portales; four brothers, Bobby Baca, Steve Baca, Phillip Baca and Eddie Baca all of Portales; and a sister, Carol Gonzales of Clovis. He was preceded in death by a brother, Louie Baca who died in 2014.
