We visited the pound yesterday and there were lots of dogs and cats that are looking for a forever home. This will be a new feature article to our paper each week. As we walked through the pound, there were three things that struck me; 1. how clean and cared for this pound was and 2. how sad and desperate most of the animals were. 3. how we as a community must start to promote spay and neuter programs, educate the public on the responsibility of pet ownership.
The staff there was helpful and friendly, they shared with me how much they would love to have donations of the following items, leashes, collars, dog and cat toys, blankets, towels and the beds that are up off the floor. They are also in need of volunteers to help with a wide variety of projects from painting to dog walking. If you have time and are looking for a place to make a difference, consider stopping in at the pound and talking to the staff to see how you can help.
All the listed below are up for adoption. The fees to adopt are $85.00 with $60.00 of that fee refunded when proof of rabies and spay or neuter is brought back in.
Shadow is a part-Pyr – Male – 1 year old. He is shy and scared in here. He is an owner surrender and they said he was not good with other dogs. So Shadow needs to be the only dog in the home.
Sugar is a mixed Yorkie. Female – about 11 years old. Her owner passed away and she is really lost and confused. What a blessing it would be for Sugar to spend the rest of her time loved.
Cooper is a mix German Shepard and Lab. He is a 1 year old, owner surrender. His past owner said they just did not have time for him. He is a bundle of energy but not in a bad way, so if you are in need of a walking/running partner to share your home with, consider Cooper. Super cool personality!
Heeler Mix – 2 or 3 month old Female. She has her first set of shots and was also an owner surrender. Her owner said she was not good with other dogs. However, at this young puppy stage I am sure she could learn. She is adorable covered with freckles and a tail that does not stop wagging!
Aust. Shep & Terrier Cross – Male – about 6 months old? He is very friendly and a bonus with that terrier hair, he would be a light shedder.
Pit Bull Cross – about 6 month old. Check out those ears! She reminds me of Sally Fields in the Flying Nun. This sweet girl is looking for a home.
Female – Domestic Medium Hair cat – No information on her as she was a stray. If you are looking for a lap buddy, this girl would be a good choice.
Male Yellow Tabby – adult – This guy wants out so bad that there was no way to get his picture without his face pressed against the bars. Very friendly and cute.
Calico Kitten – female. So very sweet, playful and loving. Consider taking this girl home for Christmas.
