Official Obituary of Mary Jane Pena Quiroga January 27, 1947 ~ June 14, 2024 (age 77)

The Mass of the Resurrection for Mary Jane Pena Quiroga 77 of Portales will be celebrated on Aug 1, 2024. Rosary at 9:00 AM and Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Helen’s Catholic Church with Father Francisco Carbajal as celebrant. Burial will be at the Portales Cemetery.
Mary Jane went to be with her creator on June 14, 2024 in Denton, Texas with her family by her side.  She was born in Encino, NM on January 27, 1947, to the home of Ramon and Veneranda (Villanueva) Pena. She grew up mostly in Portales NM and attended Portales Public Schools. She was employed as a cook for the Portales Schools for 18 years until her retirement.

She is survived by her daughter, Alisha and her husband Benjamin of Grand Prairie, Texas, her son Pete and his wife Anel Quiroga of Corpus Christi, Texas. 4 grandchildren P.J and his wife Rae, Kayla, Jacob and Jayla and one great grandchild Tai; Her siblings, Tommy and Martina Pena of Fritch, Texas, Peggy Pena and her wife Yolanda Garcia of Denton, Texas and her sister in laws Veronica Pena and Lydia Pena and her dog that she loved Lillie and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sister’s Aurelia Gallegos and Corina Hill and 3 brothers Benito, Sal and Tony Pena.
