PORTALES, N.M. – ENMU football gets back into Lone Star Conference play with a road match at Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday night.

Before the Hounds go hog hunting, take a gander at the 4th & 1:

First Down – Last Time Out
ENMU faced off against a familiar foe in Tarleton State. The two programs used to battle as members of the LSC, but now compete in separate divisions at the NCAA level. The Texans took home the 41-6 result against the Greyhounds. Both scores for ENMU came off the foot of sophomore Cooper Hamilton.

Second Down – We’re All In Wondeh
A wonderful first two weeks of action keeps wideout Asa Wondeh as the top receiver in the league in touchdown receptions and total receiving yards. His first week performance against NMHU notched him as the LSC offensive player of the week.

Third Down – Penalty Driven
Texas A&M-Kingsville may be 3-0, but one area that is hurting the Javelinas is the amount of penalties committed during the first quarter of the season. The team has been called for a conference leading 28 penalties costing them 308 total yards.

Fourth Down – Scary Situation, Tight Defenses
The Jav’s and Hounds are third and fourth respectfully in red zone defense in the conference. Last week, ENMU forced three missed field goals against Tarleton State and snagged one interception with the Texans knocking at the footsteps of the Greyhounds.

& 1 – Series History
The Javelinas lead the overall series 25-11 between the two programs. ENMU did hold a four-game win streak against TAMUK from 2013-15. Eastern has won seven of the last nine games against the conference foe, including a 48-34 offensive showcase in Portales in 2019. Current senior, Rapi Sotoa, played in that game and recorded a tackle.
