The 46th annual Peanut Valley Festival, sponsored by the Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce, will take place October 19-20 at the Roosevelt County Fairgrounds. This year’s event offers a variety of things for all ages to enjoy! Featuring 100’s of vendors, as well as a great variety of food, and fun activities, the Peanut Valley Festival is a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season and a great place to get some Christmas shopping started.
This year’s festival will boast some great acts, both returning and new. From musical performers and dancers to Tae Kwon Do demonstrations and trick roping, everyone is sure to be entertained! Some of the acts will include the ballet dancers from La Casita Baile Folklorico in Clovis, Fusion World Dance group, The Society for Creative Anachronism- Blackwater Keep, as well as Arch Angel K9, and a new bluegrass band out of Albuquerque, Higher Ground, just to name a few. All acts will be on the stage area or the nearby slab and will run throughout the festival.
There will also be new and old vendors set up this year for the craft portion of the festival. Karl Terry, executive director at the Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce, says that he’s very excited for the quality of craftmanship they will see at this year’s event, adding that there will be something for everyone. “Diane Martinez, who makes high-end Native American Pottery and has been featured in the Smithsonian will be there,” he shares, “…as well as people selling items like Lularoe and Pink Zebra. There’s a great variety!” Additionally, door prizes donated by the craft vendors will be given out during the festival, with close to 100 contributions made.
Other events that will take place will be the Peanut Olympics at 1pm Saturday, where Buddy McNutty, the National Peanut Grower’s mascot will be present; as well as a Healthy Fair from 9-noon on Saturday; and a Cornhole Tournament at 9am Saturday. For a full schedule of events, you can visit the Roosevelt County Chamber’s web site. The Festival will be open from 9am-6pm on Saturday and 11am-5pm on Sunday and admission is free to the public.
Handicap parking will be available by the pavilion; drive to the gate by the extension office and you will be directed around the building to the parking area. Food vendors will be located in the driveway between the venue and the stage/slab.
